Quilt Backing
Usually it's best to use a "wide" backing fabric (whenever possible) to coordinate with your top quilt and personal preferences. If you plan to piece it to obtain your necessary width, sew ½” seam, trim off selvedges and press open. Pre-washing is recommended as shrinkage will occur. Finally, square it and press as normal. Allow a minimum of 6 inches extra on all sides to attach to the long arm machine. Check with your longarmer ahead for their preferences and requirements!
Quilt Batting
It is preferable to purchase batting off a roll from your local quilt shop or check with your longarmer for their availability. Plan for at least 6 inches extra on all sides of your quilt top.
