Today I am pleased to introduce Winston Churchill the Pug, one of my 2 very special GrandPugs, who is having another birthday soon. He's always been adorable and a supermodel* on and off his runways. When I first purchased my Husqvarna embroidery machine a few years ago, I enjoyed experimenting with all types of threads. I now realize my fate within the Threadworld was sealed much earlier...
You could call this a 'project run-a-way design' featuring a built-in 'doggy-bag pocket', reflective trim, a hoodie, and velcro closures. Some monogram stitches were added for embellishment in contrasting black threads. (Wish I'd had the
Brytes™#30 back then--the thicker thread is best for stitched-line-designs like this example.)
All Superior's High Sheen Trilobal Polyester threads are excellent to stitch embroidery designs. They're durable 40 weight, colorfast in 100's of colors for all your embroidery needs. Click on either:
Nature Colors™,
HighLights™ (also in cones) Living Colors™, Rainbows™, Metallics™, etc. The Bottom Line™ is the bobbin thread of choice being convenient and economical--available in
prewounds. I'm always amused when embroiderers and quilters request "those preloaded bobbins";-).
This geometric design was the perfect 'quilt' stitch for function and fashion. I used contrasting polyester gold threads on the lining/denim side with black threads on the top side. (As always, I'd recommend the Superior #90/14 topstitch titanium coated needle for construction, quilting and embroidery for a project like this.) The denim lining evolved from an embroidery class practice piece--durable and rather unique. I hate to waste a perfectly good embroidery design stitched out--don't you?
In the bigger picture, I'd originally intended to submit this project as a magazine article a few years back; however, Zig Zag Magazine (from Sweden) was discontinued around that time--anyone remember that wonderful publication?

* When Winnie was a puppy he performed a 'solo' Pug fashion show in Victoria at Muriel's Serge & Sew (now closed sadly)--some of you will remember!? Perhaps I'll share this in a future Blog; please comment below.
