Perhaps a better name would be Journal or News. I chose B.L.O.G.—who knew that “word” would become traditional? The good news is “Quilting” will always be universally recognized no matter what language we translate. We’ll still be searching for creative ways to express quilt art and new locations to shop for essentials. We desire inspirational instructors, exciting fabrics and especially quality THREADS—the glue! Our support network of quilters through satellite groups, guilds, and communities is vibrant (especially here, on Vancouver Island, BC). Join me as I share how-to articles on Threads and techniques, quilting events, profiles on fabric artists, natural things of beauty and  general interest to curious and resourceful stitchers! ...Cindy Scraba (Cinderella)

Abbotsford Quilts in the Valley 2011

Posted by cindy on Sunday, June 12th, 2011

"Quilts in the Valley", produced tri-annually by the Abbotsfords Quilters' Guild, was held at the Tradex Centre, June 10-11th, 2011. Well over 450 quilts and projects were displayed and hung gloriously from the rafters. This photo provides a glimpse into the size and scope of this venue. Notice the fabulous frames, re-constructed on site to accommodate all their super sized bed quilts.  The amazing teamwork involved from set-up to tear-down was art-in-motion.

A preview of some of the "Quilts of Valor" donated this year by the talented and generous volunteers from the Abbotsford Quilters Guild.

I extend a personal "thank you" to Marilyn Isaak and Val Redekop, Show Co-Chairs and the Merchant Mall Co-Chairs: Carolyn Jennings and Nearissa Kasper, plus ALL the volunteers who were so friendly and took the time to meet me in my show booth. Perhaps I will return to do a workshop in the future based on your requests.

Show winners were announced near the end of the show. I did hear that Val Redekop's "Sunflower Whimsy" won Best of Show--well deserved, Val.
