Perhaps a better name would be Journal or News. I chose B.L.O.G.—who knew that “word” would become traditional? The good news is “Quilting” will always be universally recognized no matter what language we translate. We’ll still be searching for creative ways to express quilt art and new locations to shop for essentials. We desire inspirational instructors, exciting fabrics and especially quality THREADS—the glue! Our support network of quilters through satellite groups, guilds, and communities is vibrant (especially here, on Vancouver Island, BC). Join me as I share how-to articles on Threads and techniques, quilting events, profiles on fabric artists, natural things of beauty and  general interest to curious and resourceful stitchers! ...Cindy Scraba (Cinderella)

Cowichan Valley Heritage Quilters

Posted by cindy on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

This week, I was invited to deliver a Thread Talk to this dynamic group of stitchers--The Cowichan Valley Heritage Quilters from Duncan, BC. Their Program Chair (above R) Barbara Leggett-Carr is like the "energizer bunny" of organizing events.

I neglected to ask how large their group was; however, the nearly 90 that were in attendance appeared to have the same level of energy! And it was a pleasure to meet so many avid hand stitchers who were busy as bees stitching throughout my presentation. I love that.

CVHQ current President is Anna Clark, Delores Wagg is Vice-President & Newsletter Editor and graciously provided these photos to share with you. Membership Chair for the Cowichan Valley Heritage Quilters is Reen Lloyd: reenlloyd@shaw.ca

I understand this group meets every Monday morning except Christmas! Several of their members' quilts will be proudly displayed at the 3rd Annual Quilt Show at Crawford's Farm on July 23rd at 5700 Menzies Rd. (just outside Duncan), from 10AM to 6PM. This popular outdoor event is held on a picturesque working farm and is sponsored by "Just Over the Bridge Women's Center". (For a copy of their flyer please contact me.)

My sincere "thank you" to everyone for their enthusiasm, support and help with all my stuff. I look forward to seeing you again soon.

*Note from Barb, Program Chair:
It was wonderful to have you speak to our group yesterday!  And I know everyone also enjoyed seeing the various thread lines and new items.  It challenges us to try something new, and when one person has tried a product and tells their quilting friends about it, more are inclined to break out of their rut and try a new item too! Thanks so much for meeting with our group.
