Perhaps a better name would be Journal or News. I chose B.L.O.G.—who knew that “word” would become traditional? The good news is “Quilting” will always be universally recognized no matter what language we translate. We’ll still be searching for creative ways to express quilt art and new locations to shop for essentials. We desire inspirational instructors, exciting fabrics and especially quality THREADS—the glue! Our support network of quilters through satellite groups, guilds, and communities is vibrant (especially here, on Vancouver Island, BC). Join me as I share how-to articles on Threads and techniques, quilting events, profiles on fabric artists, natural things of beauty and  general interest to curious and resourceful stitchers! ...Cindy Scraba (Cinderella)

Oops-no Vacancy?

Posted by cindy on Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Superior Razzle Dazzle™,  the signature thread of Ricky Tims (quilt artist/teacher/musician), continues to be a permanent resident here at ThreadLand. With Springtime comes the competition between birds for choosing their nest sites. You'd think here, in the Pacific Northwest, a bird would not need help to locate or build a house. This particular 'birdhouse' was carved locally, but has an inherent design challenge--the opening is too large for most breeds.

For now, there's  "NO Vacancy" until it's a safer haven for smaller species. Guess I'm being a little choosey with attracting tenants. I know quilters and fibre artists are very resourceful. Please feel free to offer your solutions for downsizing this birdhouse opening by commenting below ;-)

Browse: Razzle Dazzle if you're not familiar with this versatile, decorative thread.

  • Such a sweet bird house...it needs a family! How about a piece of bark or co-ordinating wood with the proper size hole cut in it and short nails or wood glue it over top existing hole. Good luck!
