Welcome to Cinderella's Blog
Perhaps a better name would be Journal or News. I chose B.L.O.G.—who knew that “word” would become traditional? The good news is “Quilting” will always be universally recognized no matter what language we translate. We’ll still be searching for creative ways to express quilt art and new locations to shop for essentials. We desire inspirational instructors, exciting fabrics and especially quality THREADS—the glue! Our support network of quilters through satellite groups, guilds, and communities is vibrant (especially here, on Vancouver Island, BC). Join me as I share how-to articles on Threads and techniques, quilting events, profiles on fabric artists, natural things of beauty and general interest to curious and resourceful stitchers! ...Cindy Scraba (Cinderella)

Westshore Quilters' Guild--Quilts Along the Shore Challenge
Posted by cindy on Monday, March 28th, 2011

Cindy's Threadworks sponsored the 2011 Quilt Challenge for "Quilts Along the Shore"--the 3rd show for this 5 years young, Westshore Quilters' Guild, held from March 25th to 27th at the Eagle Ridge Community Center in Langford, outside Victoria, B.C.
Rainbows™ Thread #835 Montego Bay was the not-so-common Thread Star used by each participant throughout these Challenge Quilts. The cool color gradations blended perfectly with the distinctive challenge fabric, which you see draped across the top of the display.

The primary Challenge rules were to include the fabric and Rainbows™ Thread on the front of the quilt while interpreting the theme of "Quilts Along the Shore". The 3 winners were chosen by public ballot. Congratulations to Stacie Wilson (left) for receiving the 1st place ribbon for her quilt (below) "Vincent's Seaside Garden".

Sharron Allen's, "Under the Sea" quilt included various embellishments, techniques and threads of interest--a favorite amongst viewers/voters. Congrats Sharron and sorry we missed you at the show!

Congratulations to Carolyn Haines (Left) who earned a 3rd place ribbon along with more Rainbows™ Threads to play with.

"Stars Under the Sea" featured hidden fish within the background fabric...
*Thank you to Jan Peever, chair of this fun Challenge, Marg Shamlock Show Chair, Joyce Wallace President, plus ALL the volunteers who took on the biggest challenge of all--producing another successful Quilt Show. For more show highlights and winners link to their Newsletter archives
