Welcome to Cinderella's Blog
Perhaps a better name would be Journal or News. I chose B.L.O.G.—who knew that “word” would become traditional? The good news is “Quilting” will always be universally recognized no matter what language we translate. We’ll still be searching for creative ways to express quilt art and new locations to shop for essentials. We desire inspirational instructors, exciting fabrics and especially quality THREADS—the glue! Our support network of quilters through satellite groups, guilds, and communities is vibrant (especially here, on Vancouver Island, BC). Join me as I share how-to articles on Threads and techniques, quilting events, profiles on fabric artists, natural things of beauty and general interest to curious and resourceful stitchers! ...Cindy Scraba (Cinderella)

Superior Metallics™Threads for the New Year!
Posted by cindy on Saturday, January 1st, 2011

Is it Fireworks or Threadwork? These Metallics™ are showing off their spectacular color range and versatility. Add "Creative Playtime" to the top of your To Do List for 2011....Here's a few more Threadstars hard at play for your pleasure...(I've hand stitched the following samples with Superior Threads on cardstock. Contact me for workshop info.)

Northern Lights #803 Rainbows™ is a high sheen trilobal polyester and forgiving to stitch in this "Cathedral" geometric.

More Metallics™ Threads showing off their contortions and desire to please. A strong nylon core wrapped in rice paper, gold, silver and polyester coatings has earned this Thread a world class reputation and comes with a guarantee from Superior Threads.

This elegant Thread is #25 Variegated Gold Metallics™ stitched on embossed paper here for extra dimension. Japanese technology has perfected this line of metallic Thread over 100's of years of commercial use within embroidered Kimonos.

Halo #341 Aqua Ice steals the show in this multi-dimensional design, outlined with #252 Sterling Silver Razzle Dazzle™, another favorite of mine. Admittedly, this was the most time consuming and rewarding of all these samples. Anyone surprised by that outcome?

This Threadstar is Lava™ #285 Andes (35 wt). Another comparable choice is Rainbows™ #286 Casbah (40 wt.) or the King Tut™ #994 Karnak in Egyptian-grown ELS cotton. All 3 versions share identical color change variations in these 1 inch color repeats.
How addictive can this innocent stitching thing be?
Happy New Year to all fellow stitch-a-holics, quilters, fibreartists, and crafters. Let's all be addicted together, happy and healthy in 2011!

Note: String art has its origins in the ‘curve stitch’ activities invented by Mary Everest Boole at the end of the 19th Century to make mathematical ideas more accessible to children. It was popularized as a decorative craft in the late 1960s through kits and books.

This reminds me of something I learned in my early school years. I'm going to purchase one of your cards and try it. It looks like it could be fun?by barbara on 23 July 2011 at 7:40 p.m.
