Welcome to Cinderella's Blog

Perhaps a better name would be Journal or News. I chose B.L.O.G.—who knew that “word” would become traditional? The good news is “Quilting” will always be universally recognized no matter what language we translate. We’ll still be searching for creative ways to express quilt art and new locations to shop for essentials. We desire inspirational instructors, exciting fabrics and especially quality THREADS—the glue! Our support network of quilters through satellite groups, guilds, and communities is vibrant (especially here, on Vancouver Island, BC). Join me as I share how-to articles on Threads and techniques, quilting events, profiles on fabric artists, natural things of beauty and  general interest to curious and resourceful stitchers! ...Cindy Scraba (Cinderella)

Color Continuum

I promised to post a photo of a hummingbird IF I could? Small or tall order that was! Truthfully, I was using my camera to shoot some early lilac buds when a familiar, low pitched 'buzzzz' zoomed over my head and I quickly hit the shutter. In this region of ...

Choosing a great quilt thread helps to create shining stars. Why settle for anything less? This unloved brown border now commands your focus using King Tut #933 Hieroglyphs imprints. The thread alone isn't something to write about, but when paired with the right contrasting fabric, it's poetry in ...

WestshoreGuildThreadology.jpg (Medium)
On the road again...this week I was visiting my previous home guild, the Westshore Quilters' Guild, near Victoria, BC. I was anxious to share all my thread news after obtaining my Certification in Threadology. It was great to be with many quilter friends whom I hadn't seen for ...

ParksvilleGuildMeeting.jpg (Medium)
This week I was given the opportunity to share my wares with members of the Parksville Quilthouse Quilters' Guild who could shop-in-living-color from my "Thread Candy Shoppe". I appreciated the practice playing 'store' preparing to be a merchant at the 2 upcoming quilt shows here on Vancouver Island:

1. Quilting ...

Nature provides the medium to carve these artistic creations allowing the sweeping lines and textures to emerge from the sandstone. These memorable Navajo red sandstone formations are synonymous with Utah and the surrounding states.

Quiltscape Inspirations 1

Gemscape1.jpg (Small)Gemscape2.jpg (Small)RawGems.jpg (Small)
Inspirations for Quiltscapes can appear as rare gifts from nature. I came across these 2 mammoth, banded agates (left: sliced and polished) at a roadside Rock & Gem shop while on my way to explore the landscapes at Zion Park, Utah. Not from this geographic area, these unique geodes reveal many ...

Superior Threads' Pre-Wound Bobbin Room is no longer a secret! Now you see what goes on behind those closed doors in the warehouse. Clickety-clack-ca-ching is the sound these machines make while spinning their magic. A diligent team of humans takes over to complete the assembly and packaging process. As quilters ...

Texture Magic™ Revisited

ThreadSchoolSession.jpg (Medium)
TEXTURE MAGIC™ and Glitter™ Thread combination could easily be a recipe for disaster; not when you use the glorious titanium-coated Topstitch needle size #90/14. And when sewing with a decorative thread like Glitter™ be bold and lower your tension down to "1" to ensure happy stitching. I'd worked ...

Dissolve™ water soluble stabilizer with Thread or Paint?

Posted: 13 April 2010 at 9:08 p.m.

This technique incorporates 2 layers of  Dissolve™  water soluble stabilizer along with various fibers and threads (Glitter, Razzle Dazzle) stitched together by free motion quilting and laying down tons of thread. While attending the School of Threadology at Superior Threads in April, one of my favorite classes was taught by ...

ThreadGrad.jpg (Medium)

There's always more to learn about Thread and the industry. And I recently re-affirmed my love for this loyal friend. Thread is a sizzling hot topic as quilters continue to challenge that technology. Having received my "Doctorage in Threadology" ;-) this past week from Superior Threads in Utah (photo with ...
