Perhaps a better name would be Journal or News. I chose B.L.O.G.—who knew that “word” would become traditional? The good news is “Quilting” will always be universally recognized no matter what language we translate. We’ll still be searching for creative ways to express quilt art and new locations to shop for essentials. We desire inspirational instructors, exciting fabrics and especially quality THREADS—the glue! Our support network of quilters through satellite groups, guilds, and communities is vibrant (especially here, on Vancouver Island, BC). Join me as I share how-to articles on Threads and techniques, quilting events, profiles on fabric artists, natural things of beauty and  general interest to curious and resourceful stitchers! ...Cindy Scraba (Cinderella)

Victoria BC Quilt Show Highlights

Posted by cindy on Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Quilting with the Stars was hosted by the Victoria Quilters' Guild which they expertly produce every two years. It was a beautiful sunny weekend as the quilts hung happily in the main building with the bustling Merchant Mall a short walk in the next building with great ammenities: kitchen with microwave, fridge, and coffee and tea. I had perfect neighbors all around: Eileen Neil "the best bead lady", Sawyer's Sewing Machines, Bib 'N Tucker and Satin Moon Quilt Shop across the way--what more could I ask for? Volunteers were always there when I needed them. Thanks so much to all the show committees, expecially Lisa Girard and Lisa Gordon for all their extra miles to help ensure vendors' success!

A unique highlight of the show was the Victoria Quilters' Guild Table Cloth Challenge (above photo) incorporating a special occasion theme complete with center pieces.

As a sponsor of their Quilt Show, Cindy's Threadworks was pleased to donate 2 main prizes to deserving quilters voted by quilters and peers. Congratulations to these recipients:
  • Alison Kobylnyk, Innovative Category, "Emily Carr Interpretation"
  • Donice Horton, "Joyful Giant Tulips" Large Long Arm Category quilted by Phyllis Wright
Wishing you all many more happy hours of stitching!

Unfortunately, I was so wrapped up in thread in my booth and not able to break away to take any other photos of this event!

I shall return to Victoria for my "Thread Trunk Show & Talk" for VQG Stitch Day, July 17th, from 10AM to 2PM at the Citadel. I look forward to seeing everyone once again. Bye for now.

Of course I was the last vendor to vacate the building--hey, I had all those spools to pack up...see you in 2012!
